There’s no single formula for good design—and that’s exactly what makes it so thrilling. Rules can be helpful, sure. But in our world, they’re more like suggestions. The magic often happens when we bend them, reinterpret them, or toss them out entirely.
Except for one.
There’s one guiding principle we always stand by: every home needs a clear identity.
From the very beginning of a project, we work with our clients to define the soul of the space—who it wants to be, how it wants to feel, and the story it should tell. Once that identity is in place, it becomes the north star for every decision: from architectural elements and finishes down to the last throw pillow or family photo.
Whether your home leans Parisian bold or California cozy, consistency is what creates cohesion—and cohesion is what makes a space feel right. Without a defined identity, even the most beautiful elements can start to compete with one another. The result? A home that feels a little off, a little disjointed, and not entirely at ease.
Design is about more than just aesthetics—it’s about creating a space that feels deeply connected to you. So when choosing between ten things you love, ask yourself: does it align with the identity I’ve created for this home? Or am I just momentarily dazzled?
And if you find yourself drawn to many different styles, well… maybe you’re meant to have more than one home. (We fully support that.)
